Safeguarding Children is Everyone’s Responsibility
If a child tells you something worrying
- Listen carefully and stay calm.
- Do not promise confidentiality.
- Do not investigate or ask leading questions.
- Record the child’s words as accurately as possible.
- Inform the designated safeguarding person immediately.
- Complete the appropriate written record.
Report concerns promptly
Contact the responsible safeguarding person directly. A form or electronic message does not replace immediate contact when a child’s safety is at risk.
Verbal reporting does not replace completion of the appropriate written record.
